International Women's Day on 8 March is the day when you need to delight several very different women at once – your mother, your partner, your colleagues at the office. Perfume is a gift that fits all three, but only if the choice suits the person and the occasion. Three questions before you choose

A good women's perfume as a gift isn't necessarily the most expensive or the most fashionable. Before you order, answer three questions:

1. How close are you? The less you know the person's taste, the more versatile the fragrance should be. Fresh floral-fruity compositions rarely irritate, while heavy orientals and sweet fragrances divide people.
2. What is her style? A woman who wears classic suits and pearls will rarely be delighted by a sugary gourmand. A sporty, dynamic woman, on the other hand, may find a powdery chypre too "grown-up".
3. What is your budget? Set it in advance for each group of recipients – that way you won't spend everything on the first gift.

For colleagues and friends: small gifts up to 50 €

With colleagues the rule is "pleasant but not overpowering". The fragrance will be worn at the office, so avoid strong, heavy perfumes with a huge trail. Look for bright florals, fruit and musk.
